Soft Close WALL OVEN Hinge

Goal: To design a soft close door hinge for a wall oven using DFSS Process

For this project I led development of the first oven door soft close door hinge. This includes initial concept development, working with suppliers to build and test prototypes, and releasing the production parts. The process used and discussed below is the six step Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) process that are as follows:

Define Customer Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements

Measure features that impact customer CRITICAL TO QUALITY (CTQ)

Analyze the hinge system

Design and select top concept

Optimize top design. Verify design meets CTQs
