Head device (prototyping)
It is important to prototype early and often in product development. A great example of this Is the early development of a head trauma device project that I was engineering lead on.
Pierre D. Mourad, from the University of Washington (UW) in a engagement with Product Creation Studio (PCS), brought an early-stage product concept to support surgeons operating on head trauma patients. Working through multiple quick prototype rounds we refined the concept to develop a prototype and CAD model that best meets the user and business needs. The team included Gregory Marten, Richard Taylor, and I from PCS. Plus, I mentored and received support from Justin Kneip and Elliott Vega, ME students at UW. My contribution included, engineering lead, aided in user research, led concept generation, concept sketches, detailed CAD design, and led prototype design and build.
